Summer Clerkship Program
Our summer clerks are highly motivated second-year law students who are interested in beginning careers in complex litigation. The firm prefers that all applicants be in the top 20% of their class. Because our clerks perform extensive research and drafting, we traditionally hire clerks who are members of the editorial board of a law review or other legal publication. Participation in moot court and/or trial competitions is also preferred.
Law clerks work directly with supervising attorneys and assist with ongoing litigation by performing legal research and drafting legal memoranda and pleadings. Clerks are afforded the opportunity to put law school study and theory into practice in a fast-paced but collegial office environment. Whenever possible, clerks have the opportunity to associate with judges, attorneys, and clients, all while working on actual cases. The ultimate goal of the program is to allow both the firm and its summer clerks to determine how well each would fit in a long-term, legal practice setting.
NOTICE TO 2L APPLICANTS FOR SUMMER CLERKSHIPS
If you wish to apply for a Summer Clerkship, you may submit your application beginning in June, but no later than September 30th, of the year before the summer in question. Please send a cover letter, resume, and grade sheet to Aaron Dias at [email protected] or to 1037 Chuck Dawley Boulevard, Building A, Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, 29464.
